Stressful Tuesday!

I lacked sleep from last night. I only had 4 hours of sleep and I felt so cranky this morning. I woke up at 4:00am and left the house at 5:40am. If I'll leave later than that I'll be late on my 7:30am class. I don't have a choice. This is going to be my routine everyday for the whole 2nd semester.

Anyways, whenever someone would talk to me, I would give them a rude answer subconsciously. I could also sense myself frowning the whole time. I even tried to close my eyes for quick seconds when my professors were facing the blackboard while discussing something in class for I was so sleepy. In addition, I get easily annoyed of something or someone just because it or she looks annoying to me.

Somehow, I managed to laugh and smile when my classmates were throwing funny stories and punchlines at break times, but after those I can't help but to be back in my grouchy mood again!

Oh, stress! I know you won't leave me, but at least lessen it please. Sincerely, begging for a longer sleep.

Good night!

Howlee Sheet!

For the first time in my college life, I was marked late in my 7:30am class today, which is Humanities. It sucks! Now I won't be able to have a perfect record in my attendance sheet. Why did this happen when the semester is almost over? Alas!

The story starts like this.

Whenever I have a 7:30 am class I am supposed to wake up at 4:30 and leave the house around 5:45 in the morning. But today was something devastating! I didn't hear my phone alarmed! or my phone didn't alarm? Whatever. I am still late, and I hate to remember it! I already woke up 6 in the morning! And maybe I will be waking up later than that if my mom didn't come inside the room to ask me to print the contract that was saved on my laptop.

"Howlee sheet!!!" were the first words I said this morning and I felt bad about it.

I rushed myself to take a bath and left the house without eating my breakfast. I did that all for half an hour!

I know by that time that it's already traffic on highways and it's impossible to get a ride going to school. My emotions were mixed up. I don't know if I should stay positive or release the madness feeling inside me.

Finally, I made it to the class! I arrived there at 7:50am, but my professor already checked the attendance and I was already marked late!

Shoot!

Saved by the bell!

I had my Sociology class early this morning, and I guess this is my lucky day!

I was assigned to report a given topic on Friday and today is only Wednesday. It so happened that our professor has a dilemma on that day and she won't be able to meet us, so she decided to have all the reports to be finished this meeting. I was suddenly shocked to hear that announcement!

Oh no! I wasn't able to bring my flash drive today! I left it at home (and honestly, I'm not yet finish w/ it)! I have nothing to present in class! What now?!

Anxiety abruptly came to me. I tried to calm down, but I couldn't stop my heart beating rapidly. While there are still other reporters in front, I started skimming all the pages of my book to remember the important details about my topic. I am not worried about how I am going to deliver my report in front of the class for  I have studied that already in advance. It's just that my professor will mark higher grades to those students who prepared any visual aids or powerpoint presentation. She might think that I effortlessly did my report and she will end up giving me a low grade.

Tick! tock! tick! tock! I can't stop looking at the clock...
Tick! tock! tick! tock! and I am next to present in the class...

The moment my professor will about to call my name the bell suddenly rang!

Phew! What a relief! Class is over! I'm so happy... I'm so lucky! She has no choice but to make me report on the next meeting.

Thank, God!

Theology 101 (2)

Honestly, when theology subject starts it's either I'm hungry or sleepy because our schedule is from 12 noon to 1:30pm (People are supposed to have their lunch or have a little rest that time, right?), that's why I feel so bad when i'm not listening to our professor for he is discussing about God, His good deeds and what He is trying to tell the people. I'd rather doodle random names on my paper and not listen attentively.

Don't get me wrong, but I really do have strong faith in God, and He knows that. But the case in my school, I'm just really running out of energy.

However, when I hear a quote or poem from my professor I always write it down on my notebook, and the quote I got from Him today is:

"The heart has its own thinking that the mind couldn't understand"

After hearing those words, I began to be alive! I secretly smiled. I can relate to what the quote meant.

I know that each one of you had gone through to a certain decision that you let your heart lead than your mind even though you know it's wrong because you choose to be happy than to be right. I did the same.

Sigh.

Human nature.

Humanities 101

Do you know why I am taking up Bachelor of Arts in Communications?

Simple. I want more writing and speaking than do drawings. I'm not good in art. I don't even know how to apply make-up well on my face nor mix and match colors when i need to color my drawing. I'm a not so good artist.

I'm telling you this because I have a subject, Humanities, and I thought that from the root word human it means studying more about people, how you will understand and communicate with them.. for short, how you will deal with them. But it turned out to be an ART CLASS which I really hate! our professor asked us all the time to sketch, to draw, to color, etc., etc. and I'm so frustrated!

Why? It's because I almost got a failing grade when I last submitted my work, and I do not like seeing a low grade in any paper or card. I get so grumpy when that happens!

The highest grade a professor can give in my school is 5.0, the lowest is 1.0, and the failing is F.
and you know what grade i just received when the moment i saw my paper? It's 2.5!

Now, imagine how bad my art work is.

And there's more. Humanities is supposed to be a course and not a subject!

oh, dear. I need help :)

Friday is for McDonald's and celebration Day!

My class starts at 10:30am every Friday. Since my school was having a mass at 7:30 am for celebrating Holy Spirit that day, I was not required to attend. I just followed my regular schedule. Our first class is Sociology and the professor asked us (blockmates) to go to the library and read other preferences for sociology and list them down at the course outline that was given to us at our first meeting. And so we did. When that period was over, Theology was our next class.

The time for our second subject is from 12:00pm to 1:30pm. Since 15 minutes passed already and our professor for that subject wasn’t there yet we decided to have a free cut. It so happened that it was one of my blockmates’ birthday so we all went to McDonald’s for lunch and to celebrate her special occasion.
Actually, our break should start at 1:30pm up to 3:00pm. But we happened to have 3 hours of break for that day. We all had fun and kept laughing the whole time with those stories we share to the whole group.

When it was time for our third and last class, Filipino, we all settled for the next professor to come. After waiting again for 15 minutes, there was no sign of her so we all jumped off from our seats and started packing up our things and some of them went home early, happy that we really didn’t have any class discussion that day.

Since I still have to attend the second screening for the pep squad try- out I stayed at school until 8pm. I did my best and everything to be a member of that team.
After the screening, I immediately went home because it’s already dark and I don’t want bad things to happen to me. I arrived home at 9:30 pm and was praying to receive a message from the squad that I did pass the try-out.

While having a dinner alone (cuz my family already had earlier), my phone beeped and I started to feel nervous. When the name appeared it was just my classmate sending a forward message and I felt disappointed. I continued spooning more food. My phone beeped again for the second time and I felt nervous again, when I saw who was the sender I started screaming and my heart started to beat fast. When I read the message, the pep squad was congratulating me being an official member of their team! I jumped around because of the overflowing joy I felt that instance when I received that message!

I felt so relieved and thankful to God that one of my dreams came true!

Now I can be seen on national television when we’ll compete!

Morbid Monday!

I felt mortified in front of the whole student body today. Early this morning we had our rehearsal for our field demonstration. There's a dance number that 10 selected students from each year level will be introduced and dance for that number. I wasn't chosen by my adviser because I was absent the day she had listed the students who will participate.

I felt bad because I always wanted to join the final dance of the program and now I wasn't included. This was supposed to be my final year performing in ALLS.

Not until my adviser approached me and said, "Why don't you join the final dance? Go ahead and join." My mood brighten up when she said that. But I still felt the worry that I may not be allowed to dance because the  number of the participants in the senior year will exceed. She asked others to join as well. I was so happy she lets me dance.

Then the practice started. The seniors were introduced through the microphone. The 13 of us were standing on stage. Other students from different levels were watching us as well to see the dance number. Suddenly, our directress counted us. Oh, no! I knew this will going to happen. She said she only needed 10 and the 3 other students have to back out. But i don't want to back out!

No one wants to leave and the directress was madly waiting for us. I swallowed my pride and stepped back and went down the stage.

It was such a shame!

But I have to be fair. It was my fault also because I was absent the other day when they were looking for participants.

So, I let this happened. Geez!

Good thing it was replaced by a very nice compliment from a teacher regarding my performance and my good grades in school. All the bad vibes easily gone away.

I still thank God for this.

Amen.

pole-r opposites

I just read this post from a friend, and I just want to share it to everybody

Kid: Ms. L, will I see you at the pole?

Me: Excuuuuuuuuuse me???? What is THAT supposed to mean?

Kid: Um, it's like a prayer group thingee. At the flag pole.

Me: Oh. The flagpole. Right. Um, sure! I'll be there in a second.

Kid (walking away, says to friend): What pole did she think I meant?

Friend: Dude, I'm afraid to tell you.

Oh geez.

Life is like Grammar

Interesting.

And frustrating.

But necessary.

Every "rule" isn't really a "rule" because it sometimes has more exceptions than it had "rule" in the first place.

See, with commas, there are very specific instances in which you should use them. In lists, for example:
"I enjoy eating curry, sleeping in, and petting dogs."

But that only applies if I didn't present it with "I enjoy these three things in particular..."

Had I begun it that way I would have to use a SEMICOLON. Or maybe a colon. Frankly, I don't feel like pulling out the book to check.

It's like how you don't use your fingers to eat UNLESS you're presented with chicken wings and/or pizza. UNLESS you're in the company of someone who eats their pizza with a fork. Then you may want to consider doing so, as well, so as to avoid potential embarrassment.

And what about "'i' before 'e' except after 'c'?"

It works with most things like "receive" or "friend."

But what about "seizure" or "species," huh?

Maybe that's the same as when mostly you're supposed to wear clothes that look, I dunno, fresh and clean and new. But sometimes it's okay to buy jeans that already have holes in them?

And then there are the homonyms. "Affect" is to influence and "effect" is to implement. "Stationary" is not moving, whereas "stationery" refers to paper.

Mostly I think that's like how people with names like "Chelsea" or "Amber Lee" were likely born in the Mid-west to East-coast region, whereas people named "Chyelsiee" or "Embur Leigh" were likely born in Utah Valley.

And then there are the grammar-element personality-types. I know you know some.

Dash-people: always putting in their aside comments and silly puns.
"I told her I'd be there - but really I'd rather jump off a cliff! HAHA!"

Hyphen-people: long-winded folk who need a good excuse for a run-on sentence life.
"My brother's-best-friend's-ex's-mom's-favorite-baby-sitter is MY best-friend's-cousin's-cousin and I just found out that her favorite thing is under-water-basket-weaving and orange-mochan-frappachinos!"

Parentheses-people: Unobtrusive individuals who have their own thoughts, but you never really know it.
"Here's that report you asked me to do (even though it's not part of my job description) and I really need your signature on those forms I gave you (two weeks ago) and thanks for the chocolate birthday cake (even though I'm allergic...)"

Ellipsis-people: Melodramatic in nature. They leave you always wondering what they're REALLY thinking.
"You're wearing THAT?"
"What's wrong with this?"
"Oh....nothing...it's just...well...never mind..."

Is it not all the most true?

And amusing?

Oh grammar.

I guess I'd better get back to studying you, now.

In 5 minutes ...

Our room was completely clean!

It was so unbelievable to have a very neat room in just a few minutes!

For the month of August, one of our activities is to have a clean room. There will be a surprise visit of selected staffs from the school to evaluate each classrooms.

As one of my classmates entered, she screamed, "Ms. Mauricio is here! hurry! She's checking the room next to us. Quick!"

My classmates started to panic and began to run like ants. Some started to sweep the floor, erase the writings at the blackboard, fix the bookshelves, arranged the chairs, cleaned the wall fan, etc., etc.

Me, I'm just staring at them and laughing.

The students inside the room was so crazy that moment.

It's like magic that the room cleaned so fast in a blink of an eye.

They finished on time when someone already knocked at our door.

We sat down and smiled as they entered.

Everything seemed so perfect, but we forgot something --- the window!

Shoot! the windows were unclear.

Lah.

Physics 101

I don't know if I hate the subject or the teacher itself. I find it so harsh to deal with his paper works and more from his subject!

First, he said that every Sunday we must watch 'Matang Lawin' or 'Kap's Amazing Stories' and make a reaction paper out of it. I feel so bad about that stupid homework! Why? Matang Lawin starts at 9am and Kap's at 8pm. But the family leaves the house around 6am and comes home at 9pm. How will I watch the program now? And where's the break? didn't he know that SUNDAY IS FAMILY DAY? If he doesn't leave the house, well, don't make us too.

There's no enjoyment in life when I have to do that all the time. I'm gonna be locked up at home for the rest of this school year. Saturday can't be available for Family day because it's still a working day for us.

lastly, he got mad with us the previous day because of my annoying classmates. He said that from now on we'll have quiz first before we discuss the lesson. And he said that it will be effective FOR THE WHOLE SCHOOL YEAR!

arrrggghhh.... !

Don't mention my name, Ma'am

Yesterday, our Filipino teacher got mad with us. She stopped talking in front of the class to get our attention. And when our attention was on her, she said something that made me giggle, but I tried to force not to be noticed because I don't want her
TO MENTION MY NAME TOO!

Her sermon goes like this:
"Class, I am now annoyed with your noise. I can't tolerate this anymore! You are already grown ups so you should know how to respect the person who is talking in front. I JUST DON'T WANT TO MENTION YOUR NAMES SO YOU WON'T GET EMBARRASSED IN FRONT OF THE CLASS!...."

she paused.

"PAULINE, YSABEL and SARAH! You are very noisy! If you want, you can get out of my class ... Now!"

ohh-ouh!

School Activity

So far, the recent activities that our school did were:
1. Health and Nutrition Quiz Bee
2. Cookfest
3. Jingle making contest for nutrition
4. Eat fruits and vegetables, Dairy products, and meat for the month of July.

Great! The event was so fun, Although I didn't made it to the finals for quiz bee, but we enjoyed more the jingle making contest.

Jamie brought her poster paints to face paint us for our props when we present on stage. we had our paints in uniform style. There was an 'equal' symbol on one part of our face (since our section was named EQUALITY). She was our artist.

We made more out of those poster paints. A lot of my girl classmates put designs on their arms (including me) because it was so fun.

Are you a fan of U-kiss? I never knew that band nor heard any of their songs. But Joyce made a cute design out of them, and that's the only part that I liked.

Look what Barry did to his hand. He painted it black and white checkered. Expected that he's an emo type of person, he designed it like that.

oww, and about what happened in our contest? It was hilarious. I don't know how to explain it well. We'll know the result of the winners on Friday.

Now!"

ohh-ouh!

El oh El,
